I Know A Guy

Website Design / Website Development

I Know A Guy SA

https://www.iknowaguysa.co.za/

I Know A Guy is a user-driven platform on which homeowners can find trusted, reliable home care contractors.

Whether you are looking for a handyman for small jobs around the house or a builder for a big renovation project, you’ll find them on I Know A Guy.

I was given the opportunity to design and build a multi-vendor services marketplace for I Know A Guy SA, an established online community wherein its members trade recommendations and services.

The required functionality was for a platform that could act as both a directory for recommended service providers and a marketplace in which users could post jobs for service providers to bid on.

The platform was built on WordPress using the Dokan framework, incorporating custom scripting to achieve the required functionality. Payment processing was done using Payfast integration.

The Homepage

The homepage opens with a hero section containing a CTA that directs each type of user (Contractor / Homeowner) to the appropriate page.

The design is clean and minimalist using stock imagery and iconography to communicate with users.

Users are able to view a high-level overview of the I Know A Guy process as well as Top-rated service providers’ accounts which are dynamically set based on user profile ratings.

Contractors can also see available jobs that have been posted to the platform for them to bid on.

Finding A Guy

Homeowners can use I Know A Guy to browse through the profiles of their database of ‘Guys’ – architects, contractors, painters, and electricians all ready to assist.

Contractors can register for up to 20 categories and have the option of adding portfolio content to display their previous work on their profile.

Recommending A Guy

Unlike other business directories, the listings on I Know A Guy are Recommended by people who have interacted with those contractors, people who have used their services and can vouch that you will receive good service from them.

Users have the options of recommending a contractor to be a member of the site, an automated email is sent out to the contractor with instructions on how to register for a contractors account.

Getting Inspired

The IKAG team also requested that I design and build a custom blog frontend for them to post pictures and writeups of inspiring home renovations for users to view.

The IKAG team can edit titles and featured images for categories from the WordPress CMS.

Multiturf Sport

Website Design / Website Development

Multiturf Sport

https://multiturfsport.co.za/

Multiturf is the leader in artificial turf installations in South Africa with hundreds of installations for sports and landscape.

Multiturf approached me to design and build a new website for their subsidiary company Multiturf Sport

They wanted to be able to display new products and services, provide answers to frequently asked questions, and provide accurate cost estimates to potential clients.

The Homepage opens with a hero section displaying some of Multiturf’s prestigious affiliations.

The design focuses on angled clip paths with the intention being to best display Multiturfs artificial turf installations in use.

A primary focus of the site is to showcase the various types of high-quality artificial turf that Multiturf offers as well as showcase the professional installations Multiturf has done for their clients.

For this, I designed and built individual pages for each of their sales funnels. These pages contain editable content blocks allowing the Multiturf team to easily update the pages as needed.

The Products

The main products page is clean and to the point – presenting users with Multiturf’s catalog of artificial turf.

This page also takes advantage of the stunning macro photography that Multiturf does in-house.

Custom post types and taxonomies were set up allowing the Multiturf team to easily add and remove products from their catalog using the WordPress CMS. Page templates were also built for product entries that can be used by the team to easily add product entries that adhere to the designed look and feel of the site.

I also created several custom Gutenberg content blocks to give the team more options when displaying product information.

The assets and copy can be laid out in multiple configurations to suit the content. Wherever needed videos can also be used in place of photos.

Goldpack

Website Design / Website Development

Goldpack

http://goldpack.co.za/

Goldpack is a company dedicated to supplying the sub saharan african market with the latest technology in end-of-line packaging systems, machinery, and related consumable products from the world’s top manufacturers in their respective fields.

I worked on the Goldpack site while at Arc Design Studio, I contributed many elements to the frontend design and built the site using boilerplate code to create a custom WP theme and plugins.

The Homepage

The homepage greets the user with a hero section with a video background showcasing some of Goldpacks automated packaging systems. This section contains a button allowing the user to view the full video.

Upon scrolling, users are presented with more info about Goldpack, the services they offer, and the brands they represent.

The Products Page

Goldpack’s website was initially challenging from a UI/UX design perspective as there are a large number of products and product categories in their expansive catalog.

In order to incorporate all of these categories and subcategories I designed and built a custom accordion-style menu interface and to allow seamless and user-friendly navigation.

Each of these menu items points to an entry of a custom post type set up in the WordPress CMS, allowing the Goldpack team to easily manage their own product database.

The entire site has been designed and built with a mobile-first approach and as a result, is extremely usable on any device and screen size.

HOP Shop

Website Design / Website Development

HOP Shop

https://hopshop.co.za/

HOP Shop is a multivendor marketplace startup.

A hop-on, hop-off space to buy and sell extraordinary things made by ordinary South Africans.

I was approached by the HOP Shop team to design and build their vision of an online multivendor marketplace that would target local creators and enable them to securely monetize their talents and hobbies.

The Homepage was designed to be as color-neutral as possible in order to best showcase the vendor content.

A hero section briefly explains the concept of Hop Shop and was built as a custom Gutenberg block that can be easily edited and updated by the Hop Shop team.

The Shop

The main products page was designed as a minimalistic approach to an e-commerce storefront, offering only two filter options for products – Category and Price Range.

Vendors who register for a seller’s account on HOP Shop are provided with their own customizable store page where they can curate their product catalogs and display their shipping policies to users.

Products

The functionality of WCFM was extended to integrate with the custom product page templates built for Hop Shop, the result is user-uploaded products that integrate seamlessly into the eCommerce store.

The look and feel of the individual product pages are clean and minimalist, consistent with the rest of the site design.

Store Management

I integrated the WCFM framework to allow vendors to manage their shop profiles and product offerings. A lot of customization was done using Javascript and CSS to simplify and interface and style it to fit the aesthetic of the site.

Just Yoga

Website Design / Website Development

Just Yoga

https://justyoga.co.za/

Just Yoga is a yoga studio located on the beachfront of Ballito Village.

I was approached by Just Yoga to design a site that would reflect their brand’s philosophy – comforting users as it guides them through booking and attending Yoga classes.

The Homepage

I designed the page to be centered and balanced – clean with minimal visual encumbrance.

On the initial page load users are presented with a short intro to the studio and a CTA which directs them to the interactive booking form.

If users choose to scroll further they will find a visual breakdown of class rates and what to bring as well as some more detail about the studio and its owner.

Booking a Class

The interactive booking form allows users to book a class with a couple of taps.

I built a theme to style the appointment plugin to fit the rest of the page.
